Your Guide to Every Disney Ride and Land Opening in 2027

The Massive Global Expansion of 2027

As we look toward 2027, the Disney parks landscape is preparing for one of the most significant shifts in decades. This isn’t just about a few new shows or minor refurbishments. We’re talking about entirely new lands and groundbreaking ride systems that will redefine the guest experience across Florida, California, Paris, and Shanghai. With Disney’s Animal Kingdom leading the charge and Disney’s Hollywood Studios preparing for a monster-sized addition, 2027 is the year every Disney fan needs to have on their calendar.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Tropical Americas

The biggest transformation at Walt Disney World is the debut of Tropical Americas, a new 11-acre land replacing DinoLand U.S.A. After the permanent closure of the DINOSAUR attraction in early 2026, construction has ramped up on the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza. This land will be a celebration of biodiversity and culture, anchored by three main attractions:

The land will also feature one of the largest quick-service restaurants on property, designed as a grand hacienda where travelers can gather and rest.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Monstropolis

Construction is currently moving fast at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the brand-new Monsters, Inc. land. The highlight of this area is a first-of-its-kind suspended coaster. Unlike traditional coasters, this ride system is designed to simulate the door vault from the original film, hanging guests from the track as they zoom through the monster factory. While a firm 2027 date hasn’t been officially locked in by Disney leadership yet, the aggressive pace of demolition in the former Muppets Courtyard suggests a 2027 or early 2028 arrival.

Disneyland Paris: Disney Adventure World

The transformation of the second park in Paris continues following its 2026 rebranding. In 2027, guests will be able to experience Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. This is the first-ever attraction themed after Pixar’s Up. This flying carousel will feature 48 chairs and a tilting dome that intensifies the sensation of flight as guests earn their Aviation badge alongside Russell.

Nearby, work continues on the massive Lion King water flume ride. Guests will descend into the caves beneath a 120-foot-high Pride Rock. The ride is expected to feature a 50-face drop and state-of-the-art audio-animatronics of Simba and his friends. Current projections place the opening of this immersive African savanna in late 2027.

International Thrills and California Updates

In Shanghai Disneyland, the world’s first Spider-Man themed roller coaster is on track for a late 2027 debut. This high-speed thrill ride will anchor the park’s first major Marvel-themed land, located right next to Zootopia. Meanwhile, at Disney California Adventure, the expansion of Avengers Campus and the new Avatar-inspired destination are the key projects to watch. While these projects are well underway, official opening windows are still being finalized.
