The Post-Pandemic Shift in Disney World Dining
For many travelers, ordering a piping hot breakfast or a late-night meal directly to your room is an essential part of a resort vacation. But if you have visited Walt Disney World recently, you might have noticed a major change. True room service, or what Disney officially calls in-room dining, has almost entirely disappeared from the resort hotels. This service was once a staple at every Deluxe-tier hotel, but operations have shifted heavily over the years.
Today, there are only two locations on Disney World property where you can still enjoy traditional room service. If having a meal delivered straight to your door is a non-negotiable for your vacation strategy, you will want to keep these two specific resorts on your radar.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
As the flagship resort of Walt Disney World, it makes sense that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the only official Disney-owned hotel that still offers traditional private in-room dining. Guests staying here can order both breakfast and dinner menus delivered directly to their rooms.
Breakfast is offered daily from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The morning lineup features breakfast appetizers such as oatmeal, a yogurt parfait, a fresh fruit bowl, and avocado toast. For entrees, you can choose from classic options like Eggs Benedict, Mickey Waffles, a breakfast sandwich, and buttermilk pancakes. If you are dining with a group, the standout option is the Grand Family Breakfast. Priced at $95, this meal serves four people and includes scrambled eggs, Mickey Waffles, bacon, sausage, Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole, biscuits, fresh fruit, butter, jam, maple syrup, Minute Maid Orange Juice, and your choice of hot beverage. Children’s options, wine, beer, and cocktails are also available.
Dinner is served from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The dinner menu features appetizers, drinks, soups, and salads, alongside hearty entrees. You can order items like the Grand Floridian Cafe Signature Burger, Buttermilk-Fried Chicken, Miso-Glazed Salmon, Farmer’s Market Vegetable Curry, Slow-braised Pork Shank, and a Roast Beef Sandwich.
The Swan & Dolphin Hotel Complex
The only other location on Disney property where you can find room service is the Swan & Dolphin hotel complex. This includes the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, and the Swan Reserve. While these resorts sit right in the heart of Disney property and offer Deluxe-tier benefits (like Extended Evening Theme Park Hours), they are not actually owned or operated by Disney.
The Swan & Dolphin complex offers room service breakfast from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and dinner from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Additionally, the Swan Reserve offers specific lunch options from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To order, guests can use the hotel app or order online, and you must be present in the room to receive delivery of your food.
The Next Best Thing: Table Service To-Go
If you prefer to stay at other Deluxe resorts, such as Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you won’t have traditional room service. However, Disney has introduced a solid alternative. Many table-service restaurants now offer a “To-Go” option through the My Disney Experience app. For example, guests at the Contemporary can order from Steakhouse 71 To-Go, pick up their meal at the restaurant, and carry it back to eat in their room. While it lacks the ultimate pampering of a server rolling a cart directly to your bed, it still allows you to enjoy a high-quality meal in your pajamas after a long day in the parks.
