The Return of an EPCOT Classic
As of today, May 10, 2026, one of the most beloved opening-day attractions at EPCOT has officially returned to service. Impressions de France, along with the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, has reopened at the Palais du Cinéma in the France pavilion after a scheduled refurbishment that began on February 22, 2026.
While the theater was closed for nearly three months, the work performed was essential for maintaining the integrity of this historic experience. The Palais du Cinéma serves a dual purpose, hosting two very different films throughout the day, and the high volume of traffic often requires these periodic refreshes to keep the facilities in top shape for guests.
What is New at the Palais du Cinéma?
Visitors returning to the theater will notice several immediate improvements. The most significant update is the installation of new seating. The previous chairs, which had seen years of heavy use, have been replaced with fresh, plush seating that enhances the comfort of the 18-minute film. Additionally, technical work was completed on the theater’s unique curtain mechanism.
Impressions de France is famous for its 200-degree wrap-around projection system. During the refurbishment, crews addressed issues with the motorized curtains that reveal the expansive screens. This fix ensures that the transition from the pre-show gallery to the main feature remains seamless. General maintenance, including carpet replacement and lighting upgrades in the lobby gallery, was also part of the project scope.
Understanding the Split Schedule
Now that the theater has reopened, it is important to note that the split-operating schedule remains in effect. Disney continues to prioritize the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along for the majority of the day, while Impressions de France is shown during specific morning and evening windows. If you are planning a visit, be sure to check the official schedule, as the current rotation is as follows:
- Impressions de France: Generally available from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM and again from 7:00 PM to park close.
- Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along: Generally available from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Because Impressions de France has such limited hours, we recommend heading to the France pavilion early or planning it as your final stop before the nighttime spectacular. The evening showings are particularly popular with fans of the original 1982 film who appreciate the classical score and the beautiful cinematography of the French countryside.
Planning Your Visit
While the Palais du Cinéma does not currently utilize Lightning Lane Multi Pass, its location in the back of the France pavilion makes it a perfect companion to a visit to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. If you have secured a Lightning Lane for the nearby ride, you can easily time your visit to catch one of the films afterward to escape the Florida heat.
The lobby gallery, known as Tales as Old as Time: French Storytelling on Stage and Screen, is also fully accessible again. This exhibit features six distinct cases showcasing costumes and props that highlight the influence of French literature on cinema and theater. It is a great place to spend time while waiting for the next show to begin.
