Disrespect in the Queue: New Muppets Coaster Already Defaced by Guests at Disney World

A Rough Start on Sunset Boulevard

The highly anticipated debut of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was supposed to be the highlight of the summer season. Officially opening its doors on May 26, 2026, the newly reimagined attraction traded Aerosmith for the chaotic, musical energy of the Muppets and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Fans waited months to experience the new preshow, the updated soundtrack, and the fresh queue design.

Unfortunately, less than a week after the grand opening, the pristine new queue is already showing some serious wear and tear. Social media has been flooded with photos of defaced walls and peeling paint, leaving many in the Disney community frustrated and disappointed by guest behavior.

The Mystery of the Peeling Paint

Shortly after the ride opened, guests began noticing that the fresh gray paint in the standby queue was incredibly easy to peel. Once the first few strips were removed, exposing the lighter underlayer beneath, a domino effect seemed to occur. It appears that multiple visitors decided to join in, actively tearing away long strips of paint from the walls and columns.

The result is a queue that already looks aged and neglected, despite being open for only a matter of days. Large, visible streaks of missing paint cover columns and walls where guests wait in line, detracting from the highly detailed, backstage atmosphere that Walt Disney Imagineering worked hard to create.

Why This Keeps Happening

This trend is incredibly discouraging for anyone who values the artistry of Disney’s theme parks. Theme park queues are designed to be immersive, tactile spaces that draw visitors into the story. However, they also need to be built to survive thousands of hands touching them every single day. While some observers point to potential paint preparation or curing issues as the culprit, the reality is that intentional damage by visitors is the core problem here.

Disney has already stepped in to address the issue. Cast Members have been spotted actively patching and repainting some of the most severely damaged spots. While many of the larger patches are now covered, you can still spot a few uneven textures and mismatched shades of gray paint where the quick fixes were applied. Several columns still await repairs.

How to Help Keep the Magic Alive

When you head down Sunset Boulevard to experience this incredible new coaster, there are a few simple ways you can help preserve the experience for everyone:

We hope Disney can find a more permanent, durable solution for these walls so that the Electric Mayhem’s new home continues to look spectacular for years to come.
