The real surprise is Big Top Souvenirs. The shop closed back in February, and recently, the entire top of the tent was removed. Looking further ahead, the landscape of Liberty Square is changing forever. The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are permanently closed to make way for the upcoming Cars-themed land, Piston Peak. We’re already seeing heavy machinery leveling the land and working on the concrete foundations. It’s the end of an era for the Liberty Square River Boat, but the scale of this new National Park-themed area is going to be massive.
Finally, if you’re spending time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, take note that Vacation Fun at the Mickey Shorts Theater is entering a refurbishment phase this April. This shouldn’t impact your day too much, but it’s one less indoor spot to catch a break from the sun for a few weeks.
