Pixar Nostalgia Hits High Gear: Toy Story: Retro Roundup Brings 11 Classics to Modern Platforms

Andy’s Room is Moving to Your Living Room

For those of us who grew up in the 1990s and early 2000s, Pixar didn’t just live on the silver screen; it lived in our gaming consoles. From the side-scrolling challenges of the 16-bit era to the early 3D exploration of the original PlayStation, Toy Story games were a staple of childhood. Now, Atari is bringing those memories back with a massive new collection titled Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, set to launch on October 15, 2026.

This isn’t just a simple port of one or two games. The collection is surprisingly deep, featuring 11 total versions of classic titles spanning both home consoles and handhelds. Whether you were a fan of the original 1995 Toy Story platformer on the Sega Genesis or spent hours in 2001 with Toy Story Racer, this collection aims to preserve the entire history of early Pixar gaming.

What Games Are Included?

The collection focuses on the first two films and the wider Buzz Lightyear universe, with a special guest appearance from another Pixar favorite. Here is the lineup you can expect:

Quality-of-Life Upgrades for the Modern Era

If you remember playing these games in the 90s, you probably remember that they were notoriously difficult. To make these classics more accessible for modern families, Atari has included several essential features. Rewind allows you to instantly back up and retry a difficult jump or boss fight without seeing a “Game Over” screen. For those who just want to experience the story, Rex’s Cheat Codes provide options for unlimited lives or total invincibility.

There is also a new Practice Mode and a virtual museum for the true Pixar historians. This museum includes rare design documents, development photos, and exclusive interviews with major figures like Jason Katz (Head of Story for Pixar), voice actor Jim Hanks, and Jon Burton (Founder of TT Games).

Don’t Forget Toy Story 3

Launching alongside the Retro Roundup on October 15 is a separate, upgraded version of the Toy Story 3 game. Originally released in 2010, this title is widely regarded as one of the best licensed games ever made, particularly due to its open-world “Toy Box Mode.” The new version will feature enhanced graphics and performance tailored for modern systems.

The Toy Story: Retro Roundup! collection is available to wishlist now on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms. Digital editions will be available for each, while physical collectors can look for a double-pack containing both the Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3.
