Big Changes for International Arrivals
For decades, families flying from the United Kingdom to Walt Disney World have followed a very specific script. You land at Orlando International Airport (MCO), navigate the familiar halls of Terminal A, and begin your vacation. However, that long-standing routine is about to get a major shake-up. Starting June 30, 2026, Virgin Atlantic is officially moving its entire operation from Terminal A to the newer Terminal C.
This isn’t just a minor gate change. This is a complete relocation of one of the largest international carriers serving Central Florida. If you have a trip booked from London Heathrow, Manchester, or Edinburgh, your arrival and departure experience will look completely different than it has in years past.
What to Expect at Terminal C
While change can be stressful, especially after a long-haul flight, Terminal C is widely considered a massive upgrade in terms of technology and comfort. Opened originally in 2022 and recently expanded with new “MARS” gates to handle large widebody aircraft, the terminal was built specifically to streamline the international arrival process.
- Automated Screening: Terminal C uses more advanced TSA equipment and automated systems designed to keep the lines moving faster than the older terminals.
- Modern Luggage Handling: The baggage system in Terminal C is high-tech, which ideally means less time waiting at the carousel and more time heading toward your resort.
- Better Amenities: From updated dining options to a more spacious, airy design, the environment is much less cramped than the often-crowded Terminal A.
The Learning Curve for Disney Travelers
The biggest challenge for returning guests will be the logistics of ground transportation. Many travelers have the layout of Terminal A memorized, knowing exactly where to find their rental car desks or shuttle pick-ups. When you arrive at Terminal C, you’ll need to follow new signage for rideshares, taxis, and resort transportation.
If you need to get back to Terminals A or B—perhaps to meet up with other members of your party or to access specific shuttle services—you’ll need to use the Terminal Link tram. This automated mover connects the different parts of the airport, but it does add an extra step to your journey if you aren’t prepared.
