A Refreshing Surprise in World Celebration
If you’ve ever spent a June afternoon at EPCOT, you know that the Florida sun doesn’t play around. While we’re all waiting for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival to kick off later this year, Disney has surprised us with a perfect summertime solution. Today, the Light Lounge at The Odyssey officially opened its doors, providing a much-needed sanctuary for families looking to escape the humidity without leaving the magic behind.
Located in the iconic Odyssey building between World Discovery and the Mexico pavilion, this new seasonal experience is part of the Cool Kids’ Summer line-up. The vibe is modern and sleek, featuring a decor theme inspired by light refraction. Think vibrant purples, blues, and pink geometric patterns that feel like a nod to the classic EPCOT aesthetic while keeping things fresh and cool.
Snacks, Slushies, and Glow Cubes
The menu at the Light Lounge isn’t massive, but it’s curated perfectly for a quick mid-day recharge. Unlike the heavy festival plates we usually see in this space, these options are focused on approachable, kid-friendly favorites and refreshing sips.
The Food Lineup:
- Chicken Strips with French Fries ($10.99): A reliable classic for the picky eaters in your crew.
- Apple-Caramel Churro Bites ($6.99): Served with a vanilla dipping sauce, these are a sweet, crunchy win.
- Caramel Popcorn Churro Bites ($6.49): This unique combo features caramel churros mixed with kettle corn and drizzled in caramel sauce.
The Drinks:
- Frozen Fruit Slush with Cotton Candy and a Glow Cube ($9.29): This is the star of the show. You can choose from Simply Lemonade, Raspberry Lemonade, Limeade, or Fruit Punch. It’s topped with a cloud of cotton candy and includes a souvenir glow cube.
- Seasonal Draft Beer ($12.50): A cold option for the adults looking to relax.
- Assorted Bottled Beverages ($5.50) and DASANI Water ($4.25): For those who just need to grab and go.
Entertainment Moves Indoors
One of the best upgrades with the opening of the Light Lounge is the addition of live entertainment. Max & Aydar – Amazing Masters of Variety have officially moved their act inside The Odyssey. Previously performing outdoors in the World Celebration Gardens, this duo brings a high-energy mix of juggling, comedy, and plate-spinning that is a hit with kids.
Performances take place every half hour from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Having this show moved indoors is a huge benefit for parents. You can snag a table, enjoy some churro bites, and let the kids be entertained in 72-degree air conditioning while you plan your next Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection.
Mickey on Main Street’s Take
We love seeing Disney utilize The Odyssey during the “gap weeks” between festivals. While World Celebration has plenty of beauty, it can be a bit of a concrete heat-trap during the peak of summer. The Light Lounge is currently operating daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Our pro-tip? Head here around 2:00 PM when the afternoon storms usually roll in or the heat reaches its peak. It’s the perfect spot to reset before heading into World Showcase for the evening.
