A Spooktacular Shakeup at Disney California Adventure
Disneyland Resort has officially dropped the details for the upcoming Halloween season. While there is plenty of exciting news to celebrate, there is also a major change coming to the separately ticketed Oogie Boogie Bash: A Disney Halloween Party. For the first time in years, the beloved Frightfully Fun Parade is officially on hiatus.
Starting Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Disney California Adventure will kick off its Halloween season with a brand-new entertainment lineup. Because of major construction projects blocking the parade route, Disneyland Resort has pivoted to a highly anticipated new offering: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake: A Haunted Mansion Street Party.
Why the Frightfully Fun Parade is on Hiatus
The primary culprit behind the parade’s absence is Walt Disney Imagineering’s active construction in the park. Disney is currently building a highly anticipated Coco-themed attraction near the edge of Disney California Adventure. This construction site sits directly next to one of the main backstage gates that the Frightfully Fun Parade historically uses to enter or exit the parade route.
While Disney is also progressing on other massive expansions, including an Avatar-inspired land in Hollywood Land and a new attraction in Avengers Campus, it is the Coco construction gate logistics that made running a full-scale parade impossible this year.
Introducing Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake
To ensure partygoers still get plenty of spooky entertainment, Disney is debuting Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake: A Haunted Mansion Street Party on Oogie Boogie Bash nights. Running from August 18 through October 31, 2026, this new street party brings the legendary spirits of the Haunted Mansion directly to the streets of Disney California Adventure.
According to Disney, Madame Leota herself will host a spirited séance and swinging wake, summoning many of the Mansion’s 999 happy haunts. Guests can expect show-stopping moments, ghostly dancing, and ghoulish delights. It is highly likely that Disney will repurpose elements and floats from the Frightfully Fun Parade’s Haunted Mansion unit (such as the iconic grave diggers) to bring this street party to life.
In addition to the street party, the Headless Horseman will still make his legendary nighttime ride down the street, and Ichabod Crane will appear at scheduled times nightly to evade his ghostly pursuer.
Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 Tickets and Dates
If you plan to attend Oogie Boogie Bash this year, you’ll want to mark your calendar. The event runs on a record 33 select nights between August 18 and October 31, 2026. Ticket prices range from $139 to $199 per person, depending on the date.

- June 16, 2026: Pre-sale for Inspire Magic Key Holders
- June 17, 2026: Pre-sale for all Magic Key Holders
- June 18, 2026: General public ticket sale
Additionally, there is a special D23 Member-exclusive night scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, with tickets going on sale June 16.
Along with the new street party, fans can look forward to returning favorites like the Villains Grove walk-through, Mickey’s Trick and Treat show at the Disney Theater, and Halloween attraction overlays in Cars Land and Avengers Campus.
Our Take: A Brilliant Pivot
At Mickey on Main Street, we think this is a fantastic pivot. While losing a full parade is always disappointing, a focused Haunted Mansion-themed street party is a brilliant solution to a tough construction challenge. Street parties allow for more localized, high-energy crowd interactions, and featuring Madame Leota as the star is an incredible treat for Haunted Mansion fans. It is a creative way to bring the spirit of Disneyland’s classic ride over to Disney California Adventure, especially while the actual mansion is busy running its annual Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay.
