Planning Your June 2026 Trip: What’s Offline
Heading to Walt Disney World this June? You’re stepping into the heart of the “Cool Kids’ Summer” celebration, which brought us massive openings like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and Bluey’s Wild World late last month. However, a summer visit also means navigating the inevitable refurbishment and construction walls that keep the magic moving forward.
While most headliners are up and running, there are several key closures and modified experiences you need to know about to avoid a “wait, it’s closed?” moment at the park gates.
Magic Kingdom Closures and Changes
The biggest impact in Magic Kingdom right now isn’t a single ride closure, but the massive transformation happening in the back of the park. With construction on Piston Peak and Villains Land in full swing, the landscape is shifting daily.
- Walt Disney World Railroad: The train is currently operating in a modified “shuttle mode.” Because the tracks through Frontierland are inaccessible due to construction, the train only runs back and forth between the Main Street, U.S.A. station and the Storybook Circus station in Fantasyland. You cannot currently complete a full circle around the park.
- Big Top Souvenirs: This circus-themed shop in Fantasyland remains closed for a lengthy refurbishment. It is expected to stay shuttered through the end of June, though it should reopen later this year.
- The Diamond Horseshoe: If you were hoping for a sit-down meal here, you’ll need to pivot. The location is currently hosting a special Toy Story character event, meaning standard dining is unavailable for the month.
- Boat Transportation: The Magic Kingdom boat dock is undergoing maintenance through late July. While monorail and bus services are unaffected, boat service to certain resorts may be limited or rerouted.
EPCOT: A Quick Snack Pivot
EPCOT is in great shape following the debut of Soarin’ Across America, but there is one notable food closure near the Canada pavilion.
- Refreshment Port (Transitioning to La Poutinerie): The iconic poutine spot is closed for a major rebranding. Sponsored by Air Canada, it will reopen as “La Poutinerie” later this summer. In the meantime, you’ll need to find your salty snacks elsewhere in World Showcase.
Animal Kingdom: The End of an Era
The landscape at Animal Kingdom has changed more than any other park this year. If you haven’t visited since the spring, be prepared for a very different sight where DinoLand U.S.A. once stood.
- DinoLand U.S.A. / DINOSAUR: As of February, this entire land is permanently closed. Construction walls are up for the new Tropical Americas (Pueblo Esperanza) expansion. This means DINOSAUR and TriceraTop Spin are gone for good as they transform into Indiana Jones and Encanto attractions for 2027.
- Affection Section (Conservation Station): There’s a bit of good news here. While the Affection Section is closed for the first half of the month, it is currently scheduled to reopen to guests on June 15, 2026.
Resort and Dining Refurbishments
A few popular spots outside the parks are also taking a break this month:
- Yachtsman Steakhouse (Disney’s Yacht Club Resort): This fan-favorite signature dining spot is closed for a deep refurbishment and isn’t expected to return until August.
- Turf Club Lounge (Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort): The lounge is closed through late August, though the main Turf Club Bar & Grill remains open with a temporary bar setup.
The good news? Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Test Track are both fully operational this month, providing plenty of thrills to make up for the construction walls. Keep a close eye on the My Disney Experience app for any “pop-up” maintenance that might happen during the Florida summer heat.
