Guest Access Restricted at EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion Pyramid

Construction Update: Mexico Pavilion Entrances Blocked

If you are planning a stroll around the World Showcase at EPCOT soon, you might want to prepare for some extra navigation at the Mexico pavilion. For several months, Walt Disney World has been performing exterior maintenance on the iconic Aztec-inspired pyramid. While work began with a single side exit, the scope has recently expanded. As of late April 2026, the front-left entrance to the pyramid is now officially roped off, leaving guests with fewer ways to access the heart of the pavilion.

Construction crews have installed gray metal scaffolding and beige scrim around the left side of the structure. This work appears to involve both structural maintenance and updates to the thematic details on the building’s facade. While Disney has not released an official timeline for when these doorways will return to normal service, the presence of expanded scaffolding suggests that this project might continue through the busy summer season.

Navigating the Bottleneck

The primary issue for guests right now is crowd flow. By blocking the left-side entrance and exit, Disney has funneled all foot traffic through a single doorway on the right side of the pyramid. This creates a significant bottleneck, especially during peak afternoon hours when the World Showcase is at its busiest. Families trying to enter the building are now meeting those trying to exit in a relatively narrow space.

You’ll notice signs posted both outside and inside the pyramid directing you toward the available paths. However, because the interior of the Mexico pavilion is designed to look like a permanent twilight market, the low lighting can make navigating these new barriers a bit tricky. If you’re traveling with a large stroller or a mobility device, we recommend taking your time and staying to the far right as you approach the building to avoid the main crush of the crowd.

What’s Open Inside the Pyramid?

The good news is that the construction is strictly limited to the exterior and the entrance portals. Once you successfully navigate your way inside, it is business as usual for the pavilion’s popular offerings. Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros is operating on its normal schedule. This gentle boat ride remains a fantastic way to cool off and rest your feet for a few minutes, though you may find the queue feels slightly more crowded due to the entrance congestion.

Dining and shopping remain unaffected as well. San Angel Inn Restaurante, the pavilion’s signature Table Service location, continues to seat guests for lunch and dinner. If you have a reservation here, we suggest arriving at the pyramid entrance at least 10 to 15 minutes early to ensure you can get through the bottleneck and check in on time. The various market stalls and the crystal shop also remain open for those looking for souvenirs or hand-crafted Mexican art.
