3 Life-Changing Announcements for Disney’s Hollywood Studios This Summer

The Muppets Take Over Sunset Boulevard

It is finally happening. After months of rumors and speculation, the high-speed coaster on Sunset Boulevard has officially changed its tune. Starting May 26, 2026, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will make its grand debut. The Aerosmith theming is gone, replaced by the chaotic energy of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

The updated attraction features a brand-new storyline where guests meet an advanced audio-animatronic of Scooter, who is acting as the band’s manager. Along with a crew of penguin audio engineers, Scooter is tasked with getting the band to their concert on time. You can expect a fresh setlist during the high-speed launch, featuring Electric Mayhem covers of classics like “Song 2” by Blur and “Born to Be Wild.” This change breathes new life into the attraction while keeping the intense loops and corkscrews fans love.

A New Mission in Galaxy’s Edge

Beginning May 22, 2026, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is receiving its most significant update since the land opened. To celebrate the release of the new film, a permanent mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu is being added to the rotation. This isn’t just a simple overlay; it is a total gameplay overhaul that fixes a long-standing complaint regarding the ride roles.

For the first time ever, the crew will have control over their destination. In the Engineer seat, guests will now be able to choose between iconic Star Wars locations like Coruscant, Tatooine, Bespin, or the wreckage of the second Death Star over Endor. Engineers will also have new interactive moments where they can communicate directly with Grogu during the flight. The mission involves a high-stakes bounty hunt for Hondo Ohnaka, pitting your crew against ex-Imperial officers and space pirates.

The Arrival of the Walt Disney Studios Lot

The Animation Courtyard is officially being rebranded as the Walt Disney Studios Lot. This reimagined section of the park is designed to feel like a working production studio, and it kicks off with the debut of Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! on May 26, 2026. This interactive show brings Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the Sensational Six to the stage for a high-energy dance party aimed at younger guests.

Later this summer, the area will expand further with the opening of The Magic of Disney Animation in the old Star Wars: Launch Bay building. This walkthrough experience will feature Olaf as a guide through the history of Disney storytelling. These updates provide much-needed family-friendly capacity as the park prepares for the massive Monstropolis expansion currently under construction nearby.
